Sony to Introduce New E-book Readers in August, Two Tablet Models Later This Year
July 15, 2011

Sony said that the company schedules to launch a new E-book reader in the United States as early as August this year, Bloomberg reported on July 14, 2011. The new reader device is expected to be priced between US$180 and US$300. It is reported that Sony decides to continue its e-book reader business mainly because price tags of e-book readers are always lower than tablet PCs.

Sony's first tablet PC models are slated to release later this year. Sony is projected to integrate its e-book technology and online book store into its tablet PCs. One of the two tablet models is a clamshell design with dual 5.5-inch screens, and the other one has a 9.4-inch touchscreen. Price tags of both the models will be higher than models released by other companies, according to the same source.
